Welcome/About Me
5th Grade Rocks!
We'll start each day with a morning meeting and then grow, learn, and laugh together all day. I love learning new things and can't wait to share my love of learning with my class.
About Me:
I love teaching math. Reading is amazing. Writing is awesome. Word Study is a blast. Science and Social Studies ROCK! Which one is my favorite? All of them!
I came to teaching later in life. I have a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Montclair and worked in the actuarial field for years. After volunteering in my oldest child's kindergarten classroom, I was hooked. I started working at Chairville as an assistant while attending Rider's graduate teaching program. I've since taught Grades 3,4,5, and 8th grade math and algebra.
When I'm not teaching or running the Harry Potter Club, I enjoy reading, visiting historic sites, and hiking with my family. My husband Eric is a Systems Engineer at Cisco Systems, and we have three adult kids: Jake works for Verizon in Princeton, Randy is a bio-environmental engineer in Oregon, and Abby is in law school in Vermont. Eric and I live right here in Medford and have a dog named Sheldon who is scared of everything, an irritable older gray cat named Murphy, and a little bad cat, Gigabyte. I also volunteer at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge Animal Hospital and take care of squirrels, opossums, hawks, owls, and fawns!
